MOOD: serious and informational

| Individual essay chapters read quickly | Lacking history about Juneteenth, unlike what the title suggests |
| Interesting, historical information about the end of slavery and Texas (the final essay is my favorite!) |
FINAL THOUGHTS:
This timely read helps fill-in-the-blanks of history that many of us probably don’t know regarding the end of slavery and the climate of Texas during this time. While informative, the essays are easy to consume both in pieces and several at a time; the history is rich, yet accessible with the writing style. However, I felt I was promised a stronger discussion about Juneteenth, as the title may suggest.
