“Watching the couple start to relax inside the chapel, she knew that they had made poor choices too. And coming here was probably top of the list.”
Rock Paper Scissors – Alice Feeney
My Rating
In Summary of Rock Paper Scissors
Adam and Amelia win a getaway weekend trip to a secluded area of Scotland, which will hopefully save their struggling 10-year marriage – or at least that’s what one of them hopes. Infidelity and Adam’s face-blindness condition certainly have complicated their marriage, and below the surface secrets and vengefulness simmer. However, they may not be the only ones present for this trip. Who is telling the truth and who is telling a lie? And who will make it out alive?
WARNING: infidelity, miscarriage and infertility

| Positives | Negatives |
|---|---|
| Snowy, wintery atmosphere is *chef’s kiss* | Some circumstances seem too coincidental |
| Slow-build anticipation is so worth it! | Ending is unnecessarily drawn out by an unnecessary character |
| Plot twists may genuinely catch you off-guard |
“Memories are shape-shifters and dreams are not bound by truth… I want to fix him. And I want him to love me for it. But not everything that gets broken can be repaired.”
The Review
If you are wanting an attention-grabbing thriller, put on your snow shoes and run – don’t walk – to grab this one!
I was worried that I was going to read another thriller with a predictable plot and that it wouldn’t keep me engaged enough in the claustrophobic setting that consists of few characters, but I was wrong.
Things get twisted real fast, and I didn’t want it to end.
Rock Paper Scissors kept me guessing, and many times I was NOT right. That’s what thriller readers look for, right? Plus, this book gives major cozy vibes, so its perfect for the chilly season.
The face-blindness condition that the husband has is intriguing, although I will say a bit coincidental to the plot. If he didn’t have this condition, how would the plot have been different? It does add a major element to the secrets the couple has hidden, so his condition does help move the plot along. However, it does add to interesting character development that I appreciate!
Also, I love books that switch between narrators within a relationship, as well as books that include letters/diary entries. Rock Paper Scissors has exactly that, and it allows readers to explore the relationship more in-depth and to see various perspectives on its downfall.
Grab your slippers, read Rock Paper Scissors, and let me know what you think of it!
